Christian music reivew Setting new standards. All day, every day.
Every Day Life (EDL) has fast become one of my favorite Christian hardcore bands. They've managed to work their way into my heart with their intense sound and message. This album, their second, is one of the hardest CD's I've ever heard. They absolutely drive every musical point home and stomp on it. The drum beats are just plain addictive, and the riffs and hooks just add to the mix perfectly. And their message? To say it's aggressive is an understatement. When you hear growling lyrics like "When they try to take what's yours...push back" and "ten dead little Indian boys", it almost makes you wonder, "Is this really a Christian band?". Listening to the rest of the song, though, reveals the true message they're trying to send. EDL is for real. They tackle a lot of different subjects on this one, and they even take time to give props to their roots in Long Beach with an old-school-sounding joint ("LBC"). These guys just get better with age, and, surprisingly, having a different lineup on each album doesn't hurt them a bit! Hardcore/metal fans, just come and get some of this. Now's the time to rise!

Christian music review What an Album!
I think that this CD has the greatest impact on the subject if Christianity of all of EDL's cd's. I got this CD almost a week ago and got it signed by all of the guys(excluding the Bassist-No-More) and I would have recommended this CD to anybody who loves rap-core. If you listern to Tedd scream, you might get pretty intimidated. I know I am. This CD has every crumb of rap-core to satisfy your needs for your EVERY DAY LIFE!

Christian music review Every Day Life
Every Day Life: America Standard RULES! Salt circles is probably my favorite song. I usually listen to bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, 311, and Every Day Life is all that! they combine rap and heavy metal that is better than limp bizkit or korn, like KORN makes up sounds to say~make but EDL actually has real lyrics, good lyrics. This is definetly one of my new favorite CDs

Christian music review Another Time, Another Place, Another Great Album from Patty
This is truly one of the best albums, if not the best that Sandi has produced. The entire collection of recordings is all very inspirational and uplifting. From the duet title song with Wayne Watson to the incredible sounds of "Oh Calvary's Lamb", the CD is a must have for any Christian Music lover or Sandi Patty Fan.
Also, it seems as though many Patty lover's were somewhat disappointed at the direction of this CD, being that it was a sudden departure from her previous style and use of vocals, however I think it proves how diverse her voice is and marketable to listeners of all ages and style.

    Christian music review Solid Effort
This early 90's album demonstrates Patty's impressive vocal versatility, as she abandons her trademark mulit-octave wail for a more subtle (though not less powerful) delivery. The key is the excellent material, which contains a vast array of styles. The intro "Unto Us" is pretty standard for Patty, but the title track fares much better. "Another Time..." is a superbly written song, holding back emotion until just the right moment. A few tracks later, there's a nice duet with Amy Grant ("Unexpected Friends"), followed by the breezy, yet ironically haunting "I Give You Peace." The song utilizes all of Patty's range, but in a very muted way. At the end of track, a choir of Sandi Patty's echo each other in rounds, and the result is the richest musicality she's ever produced.
The rest of the album paces itself well. "Rejoice" is another Patty standard; "Willing to wait" is a fun, Midler-esque number. The album peaks again, however, with the powerful "Who Will Call Him King of Kings," another great song which tempts Patty to go over the edge with the glass-shattering upper register that she's famous for, but suprisingly, she does not, and it still works for her. Finally, the end track "O Calvary's Lamb" peacefully whisks us out with a quiet, rolling storm.
The gospel hall-of-famer has many diverse chapters in her singing career, including children's records, a spanish album, hymns-only albums, and of course, the classics ("Morning Like This," etc...). Though she may always be remembered for her ability to reach non-human notes with ease, "Another Time,..." is Patty's best work; it never goes over-the-top, never slows too much, and never misses the mark. And best of all, it shows a whole new side of a very special vocalist.

Christian music review Deeply Moving Album
Far and away her best CD, a meaningful experience from beginning to end. The duets are career highlights and each song is like a polished gem.

Christian music review My Favorite Southern gospel group
9/17/01I love this double cd, and could not ask for a better selection of songs, it is played over and over at my home. You too will enjoy this wonderful happy music. Thanks.

Christian music review An Independant Baptist Preacher fan of The Cathedrals.
This is most definately the best of The Cathedrals! I believe the Southern Gospel Music customer viewing this review would not be the least bit disappointed with this great collection of soul stirring songs by the Cathedrals. I was introduced to Southern Gospel Music by groups like Gold City, Kingsmen, The Squire Parsons Trio, and The Cathedrals, and of them all I personally believe you cant go wrong with a quartet with the powerful sound The Catedrals are famous for having. Personally I believe that George Younce (the Bass) has been blessed tremendously with a rich deep, but yet smooth voice that makes nearly all the songs of The Cathedrals Anthology collection a must have if your a Cathedrals fan. Roger Bennett does an AWESOME job at keeping the piano in the spotlight as not too many quartets in the Southern Gospel Music have been able to do. If you know Rogers health condition of having cancer, I think youd agree that God has prolonged his life possibly for the fact of being what he is in The Cathedrals quartet, especially in the Anthology collection. We know that Glen Payne has passed on to be with the Lord now, but for his time he really could sing Gods praise as him and George Younce started the group years ago. It is amazing to think that George, and Glen had praised God for 35 years when the Anthology disc was recorded. Im sure if you have an ear for a good "Olde Fashioned" Gospel Group, but yet still modern enough that even the teenagers seem to know the songs youll come back to some of the titles featured on the Anthology Collection time, after time. Step into the water, Shout over heaven, Sinner saved by grace, and Jesus saves, are all songs that have a very good Gospel message presented in them to meet the name of Gospel music, but overall I believe these are some of the best songs brought together on two discs that The Cathedrals have performed. Youll find that when your just in the mood for a song that will cheer you up, and encourage you that O, What a Savior on disc one is just the song youll need. Ernie Haase, and Scott Fowler sound great together, and personally I believe for a groups voices to match and blend so well you need look no further than The Cathedrals. By Gods grace I can honestley say that if you give The Cathedrals Anthology collection of great music a try you definately will not regret it. For the price it will be tough to find a better deal. And I think if your a bargain shopper that over two hours of music recorded on two discs is plenty enough, especially on account that you get to hear Glen Payne, who is gone on with the Lord and Americas lowest bass George Younce both together. That alone gives the Anthology collection much value to the collector of the Cathedrals, but for the new listeners Im confident youll be satisfied with your purchase. I myself sing in a quartet and take it from me when I say that The Cathedrals Anthology "A 35 Year Musical Journey" will become one of your most prized possessions in your Southern Gospel Music collection. Thank You ! John H.

    Christian music review Excellent Investment
This was my first Cathedrals purchase. All of the great songs are included. You'll enjoy everyone. It covers a lot of years of excellent recording and is played in over two hours. If you're looking for a good Cathedrals sampling. This is it!

Christian music review This album is beautiful...
I honestly never thought that there could ever be a way to top or even come close to the last album "No One Else", but this new album "Awesome Wonder" is running neck-in-neck. In the three year hiatus between albums the Kurt Carr singers have made a few minor cast changes. After the disbanding of Kesha Ealy, LA Mass Choir veteran, Nicole Potts ["Jesus Never Fails"] took her place and after the disbanding of Corey Briggs, New Jersey import, Troy Bright, a former CD Hawkins Singer, takes his place. Despite the cast changes, the sound remains the same.
Backed by West Angeles COGIC's Choir Of Life, the recording starts off with "In The Sanctuary", a rousing worship and praise song, which modulates into the heavens. Then there's the forceful yet fun praise song "We Declare War", led by Kurt Carr and Jackie Boyd-De Raat, after that is "O My Soul Loves Jesus" , a beautiful praise song led by Nicole Potts. Then there's the rousing "I Almost Let Go", led by Sherron Bennett along with Choir Of Life member Tisa Wills. Then there's the hot, salsa flavored "We Offer You Praise", led by Carr and the proclaimed "First Lady of Worship and Praise", Judy McAllister the song is played by Alberto Salas and his band. Then there's the down home Charles G. Hayes meets Kurt Carr flavored "Jesus Can Work It Out" with Shervonne Wells leading with spectacular ad-libs on the drive. After this is the "Worship Medley", beautifully led by Yvette Williams. Then there's something we wouldn't expect from Kurt Carr, an urban song. The title track. "Awesome Wonder" thought it has a worship and praise feel to it has a hot urban beat and edge mixed with the Kurt Carr singers vocals, the song is hot! After that is the beautiful "The Blood Still Has Miraculous Power", lead by Yvette Williams and then there's the sizzling hot jam "At All Times", lead by Jackie Boyd-De Raat and Nicole Potts. Then the most beautiful song on the entire album "That's Just The Way The Father Is", smoothly led by Kurt Carr's newest singer, native New Jersean, Troy Bright and to end the album the singers do exactly what the titles says, they "Set The Atmosphere" for a blessing from the Lord.
I was blessed by this album and I'm sure you will be to. This album is beautiful and indeed a must have!

In the 1960s, the Staple Singers began to make music that spoke to a wider audience than their core gospel fans. Gospel had served as the musical backbone for the Civil Rights movement from the beginning, but Pops Staples was spurred on by the inspirational messages of Martin Luther King Jr. to address more explicitly these issues. This 1972 record, an apex of groovy, mellow soul music (thanks to Al Bell's production and the definition-of-funky Muscle Shoals rhythm section), landed the group three Top 10 R&B hits and their first pop chart-topper, the joyous, bouncy "I'll Take You There." The Staples were always a one-of-a-kind gospel group; they managed to be the only one to inhabit the Top 10 without ever diluting their messages of tolerance, respect, and love. Who can fault any great preacher for wanting to spread the word to as many people as possible, especially when it sounds this glorious? --Mike McGonigal

    Christian music review "Heavenly"
    Hi Vickie,

You have the right title for this cd. It really encourges my spirit as well as my heart. We Shall Behold Him gives me a visual insite of heaven in an awesome way with the Lord standing as a flame of fire his arms stretched out, signaling for us to come stand with him. A light that razes with such a bright glow sets behind him, a soft light bronze with a soft touch of white embayed in together, streets paved with gold as the sky sets in clear white while the angels are standing behind him clothed in there ivory white gowns with there enormous wings spreaded looking as though they are singing in a choir. It not only gives me thoughts of heavenly things, but it keeps me in a sweet spiritual spirit. I appreaciate the intire cd and you. Stay encourged. Thanks for allowing the Lord to use you.love you always

    Be Blessed!

Christian music review This debut album is amazing!
This debut album is just so amazing, and yes, "We Shall Behold Him"! All of the songs that are on this album are my favorite. The album opens with all-power with the song "You Turn Me", and you will get your groove on, not forgetting your praise on! A few songs will lead you into worship. They have certainly chosen the right name, for this album because every song will encourage you to keep on keeping on with Jesus. So buy this album, and you will not be disappointed. I love you, Vickie! Lamarr Lassiter

Christian music review THIS ALBUM WAS UPLIFTING AND ELECTRIFYING
THIS ALBUM DEALT WITH MIXED EMOTIONS THAT WILL ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE BY FORCE YOUR RIGHTFUL PLACE IN GOD, BECAUSE THE LORD IS COMING BACK. I DANCED OFF ONE OF MY FAVORITES "YOU TURN ME". MOVING TO ANOTHER ULTIMATE FAVORITE "WE SHALL BEHOLD HIM". I CRIED OUT WITH TEARS WORSHIPPING WITH DEEP CONVICTION THAT WILL MAKE YOU GET IT RIGHT EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT RIGHT. SHE SAYS A SCRIPTURE SO BEAUTIFULLY 1 THESSALONIANS 4:16 "FOR THE LORD HIMSELF SHALL DESCEND FROM HEAVEN WITH A SHOUT, WITH THE VOICE OF THE ARCHANGEL, AND WITH THE TRUMPHET OF GOD. AND THE DEAD IN CHRIST WILL RISE FIRST. THE WE WHO ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN ARE GONNA BE CAUGHT UP TOGETHER WITH THEM IN THE CLOUDS TO MEET THE LORD IN THE AIR. WE SHALL BEHOLD HIM. Christian music reivew Amazing
I heard this album from my first band about a year ago. I fell in love with it in the first listen. It's not like those other rock/alternative bands you here, many different elements in this cd. I would seriously pick it up if you want something different and with deeper meaning too. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! God bless.

Christian music review Spread the word!!
This cd is really cool! Hard core/rock songs with good lyrics. This band should be better known! Awesome music. Get this cd, and if you like it, tell your friends!!

    Christian music review emoish-hardcoreish-jazzy-metalish rap-punk?
That's the best way to describe this album. I haven't heard a LOT of the first cd, but I may go buy it just because of this one. I have had this cd for quite a while now. This cd rocks. The beginning kicks off with a very nice jazzy section w/ piano and nice drums, then it kicks your head open and fires away. This album mixes the best aspects of rapcore with jazz, punk, metal, and GORGEOUS harmonies. All with indie FEELING production. Production kudos on this one. This producer is one of the best if you follow him. The guitar tracks are excellent here, with a diverse array of tones and arrangements, all mixed together brilliantly to make the most of it all. And attention math metal/fusion fans! While there are no 13/8 time signatures on this cd, there are alot of cool change ups (swing time to cut time and back on "As it feels good"), time signature changes (4/4 and 6/8 on "Save this fakeness") and time signature blendings (Intro samples to "someone to blame" and the 2/4 punk beat superimposed on 6/8 in "to live".) Favorite cuts include "Pointing fingers" (Metal intro, jazz-chord chorus, rapcore verse, worshipful interlude, all with the GORGEOUS harmonies), "As it feels good" (every punk song should sound like this), "Anymore" (great hardpunk chorus beats, very ambiguous about the key signature until the kickoff, awesome!), "Escape" (hardrock supreme! and great kick pattern on the reggae-flavored verses), "Goodbye without you" (a beautiful song, perfectly mixed), and the album ender "This song's for you" (beautifully simple acoustic piece, a love song that says so much with so little). All songs are great, there's even a jazzer on there. The vocals are wonderful. The guitarist gets my vote for hardrock guitarist of the year, but the most amazing on this is the drummer/vocalist. While not playing on every song, he play on all the best drum songs, and his vocals are killer. Great band, diverse, all with an indie/emo feel. Buy it!

Christian music review Be be and Ce ce Winans - Be Be and Ce Ce
This has to be one of the best albums that they have ever done. Its a beautiful album and I would recommend it to anyone !!! The vocal harmonies and musical arrangements are first class, all round it is very well produced.

Tracks 'I owe you me' 'Still in love with you' 'For always''Love said not so' and 'Change your nature'I could listen to over and over again they are so lovely, in fact there is nothing bad I could say about this album. It took some time for me to get my own copy as I only had a recorded cassette version. Boy the wait was worth it!!! A CLASS !!!
